Rhythmic Hawaiian Bodywork
Lomilomi is a traditional Hawaiian full-body massage built around rhythm, flow, and whole-body connection. Rather than treating the body area by area, the work moves in long, continuous sequences using hands and forearms, often travelling from the upper body to the lower body and back again without breaking rhythm.
What makes Lomilomi feel so different is not just the physical technique, but also the quality of presence behind it. It is given with full focus and intention, which helps create a treatment that feels deeply calming, nurturing, and restorative. The body is treated as one connected whole, which can help it soften more fully, switch off more deeply, and release built-up tension in a way that feels both grounding and restorative.

A More Authentic Lomilomi Approach
I was trained in Lomilomi by Zanna from Hunaquest, and the version I offer comes from a much more intensive and authentic training than the shorter introductory formats that are also available. In the approach I was taught, Lomilomi is a continuous full-body oil treatment where the strokes travel across the body in long, connected sequences using hands and forearms.
This makes Lomilomi quite different from the kind of massage most people are used to. In a classic Swedish or deep tissue massage, the body is usually worked in sections, with only the area being treated exposed and the rest covered. Lomilomi, by contrast, is designed as one continuous flow. When the back of the body is being treated, the whole back body is exposed apart from the groin area, because the strokes are meant to travel from head to toe and back again without interruption. A sarong, sometimes called a traditional loin cloth, is used for this coverage, which is the Hawaiian way I was taught to give Lomilomi. Underwear would interrupt that flow and would also become heavily oiled.
My aim is to offer a fuller, more authentic Lomilomi experience while keeping everything professional, respectful, and clearly bounded at all times. If you are completely new to massage, or simply want to get to know my style first, it can make sense to begin with one of my other treatments and try Lomilomi later once you feel fully at ease.
Female Clients Info
For female clients, authentic front-of-body Lomilomi includes flowing pathways across the chest as part of the traditional sequence. In the approach I was taught, the chest remains uncovered during this part of the treatment so those strokes can flow properly and continuously.
If you would prefer more coverage, that can absolutely be arranged. I can provide disposable nipple covers or use a cloth drape over the breasts, and I will adapt the treatment accordingly. You will still receive a high-quality session, though some of the more traditional Lomilomi strokes will need to be modified or left out.
Male Clients Info
Although men do not wear underwear during Lomilomi, this is not a fully exposed massage. The groin area is always professionally covered throughout the session, whether working on the front or back of the body, so privacy, dignity, and clear boundaries are maintained at all times.
Safety and Contraindications
Lomilomi is a full-body oil treatment and can be very effective, but it is not suitable for every situation. If your body is under acute stress or active illness, treatment should wait. Please do not book yet if you currently have:
• fever, infection, or contagious skin condition
• open wounds in areas that would be treated
• acute illness or you feel unwell
• sudden unexplained pain or swelling
• recent major injury or trauma
• chest pain or breathing-related warning symptoms
Please message before booking if you are:
• pregnant or recently postnatal
• recovering from surgery
• under active cancer care
• managing unstable heart, neurological, or clotting-related conditions
In some cases, medical clearance is needed before treatment can go ahead. If you are unsure, send me a message first and I will guide you clearly on whether to book now, wait, or get medical approval first.
LomiLomi F.A.Q
LomiLomi F.A.Q
LomiLomi is a traditional Hawaiian style of bodywork known for long, continuous, flowing strokes.
Rather than treating the body in separate blocks, it works through connected movement patterns from head to toe to support full-body release, circulation, and deep relaxation.
Deep tissue often focuses on specific knots or problem spots with slower, targeted pressure.
LomiLomi uses a flowing, rhythmic style, often with forearms and hands, to work the whole body as one connected system. It can still be therapeutic and effective, but the feeling is very different from standard stop-start treatment.
LomiLomi is offered as one fixed session length: 90 minutes.
This allows enough time for the full flowing format and proper full-body treatment without rushing.
Yes. LomiLomi is one of the most oil-rich treatments you offer. The generous oil use supports uninterrupted gliding strokes and is part of the method’s signature feel.
LomiLomi is delivered as a full-body oil treatment, so all underwear is removed to allow continuous pathways. Professional draping is always used, and sensitive areas are covered throughout with towels and/or sarong-style draping.
Yes. Always.
Draping is handled professionally and respectfully at all times. Only the area being worked is exposed, and coverage is adjusted carefully as the session progresses.
In the authentic Lomilomi approach I was taught, front-of-body work includes flowing strokes across the chest, sternum, abdomen, and sides of the body. For those traditional movements to flow properly and continuously, the chest remains uncovered during that part of the treatment.
Many women choose extra coverage for their first Lomilomi session, then decide differently once they experience how professional, natural, and respectful the treatment feels. If you would rather begin from a more covered starting point, Signature Massage or fully clothed Neural Pathway Massage is often the better first step.
If you are very private, new to massage, or unsure about a more open oil-based format, it is often better to start with:
• Signature Massage (more covered, still includes selected LomiLomi techniques), or
• Neural Pathway Massage (NPM) (fully clothed).
Then you can move to full LomiLomi later if it feels right.
Clients commonly choose LomiLomi for:
• full-body tension and physical overload
• stress-related holding patterns
• feeling disconnected from the body
• poor recovery after demanding weeks
• the need for a full nervous system downshift
It is especially valued when someone wants more than local spot treatment.
Yes. Active clients often like LomiLomi for recovery, mobility support, and reducing overall load after training blocks or physically demanding periods. It complements sport-focused work well.
For best results:
• hydrate well
• avoid heavy training the same day
• avoid sudden high-load activity
• keep the rest of the day lighter if possible
This helps your body settle and integrate the treatment.
Yes. Lomilomi is still professionally draped. A sarong or traditional loin cloth is used for coverage, and the groin area remains covered at all times, whether working on the front or back of the body. Privacy, dignity, and clear boundaries are always maintained.
This is a common concern, and you are not the only one who has wondered about it.
A physical response can occasionally happen during completely non-sexual therapeutic treatment. It is a normal nervous-system reaction to touch and deep relaxation, and it can happen regardless of sexual orientation. It does not mean anything inappropriate, and there is no reason to feel embarrassed.
You are professionally draped throughout, and the session remains respectful, clinical, and focused on treatment at all times. If it happens, I handle it calmly and professionally and simply continue the session. The best approach is not to worry about it in advance. When you can relax fully, treatment is usually more effective.
LomiLomi often feels amazing because the whole body is treated in one continuous, flowing rhythm, which can feel deeply relaxing and restorative. However, this is a professional therapeutic treatment, not a sensual or sexual service.
All sessions are delivered with clear boundaries, professional draping, and respectful conduct at all times. I do not offer services of an intimate or sexual nature, and I reserve the right to end a session immediately if behaviour becomes inappropriate.
